Daku Daku was the Monster of the week in Ep.48 of the Grendizer Anime and was piloted by Commander Hidoro. Daku resemble a caterpillar, with Green and Blue-Green in color, a green yellow face with bright yellow eyes: it possess 8 legs, the head and mandibles of a centipede, with gray antenna. Each of its feet were thrusters that would allow it flight in robot mode and fired lasers from its eyes and dorsal spikes, as well spew Acid from its mouth. The segmented body of Daku could separate, becoming various projectiles under control of the antennas on the head (which also serve as cockpit for Hidoro). The vehicle form was a cigar shape Saucer Mode, making Daku one of the last Saucer Beasts to break from the Disk shape in the series. Daku cause interference with vehicles and the power grid would dig through the ground.

Commander Hidoro was launched on the Daku Daku from the Mother Fortress to Earth for the next line of attack on Vega against the Space Center. When it arrived, it had dug his way underground. Later, two mechanics (dunno what to call them, they are dress like Mechanics) arrived to the site of a mudslide when their jeep begins to run on its own as an Earthquake strikes the area causing large holes to open – these event continues through all through the night, leading to the destruction of a Hydro electric dam. When the reports of these disasters reached the Space Center, Vega activity is suspected and Hiraru and Koji leave on the M and D Spazers to explore the region, though Duke stay behind do to Umon's concern for Vegatron Radiation.


The duo explore the region, seeing the destruction to the various communities and taking pictures of the huge cracks in the ground. In the meantime, Koji talks with the two Mechanics when another Earthquake strikes. Hikaru investigates the new seismic activity and witness the ground opening up splitting a mountain in half and it sinking into the ground; her sensors rapidly detect Vegatron signatures. Koji arrives on the D-Spazer and opens fire, exposing Daku, which transforms for the fight. Duke takes off on Grendizer as the beast goes underground to avoid the missile barrage from the Spazers. Duke combines with the Drill Spazer to hunt for the beast underground and falls into a cavern system that is fill with a viscous green mud, which Duke identifies as Acid and its melting the tracks of the D-Spazer. Koji attempts to escape at full power, though this complicated by both the acid mud and Daku firing more of it at them. Hikaru fires a grappling anchor, latches onto her team mates, and with Marine Spazer at full power, the group escapes the trap.

An angry Gandal reprimands Hidoro for the failure and orders him to sink the Space Center into the ground below; this explains the Earthquakes and the ground sinking. Back at the space center, Hikaru informs the others than in her survey, she noticed a pattern in the epicenters, which begins to make a circle with the Observatory at its center – this is confirm with another tremor, with its epicenter following the circular path. Hikaru's photo confirm the presence of the Pits created by Hidoro, which make Umon deduce the Invaders plan of sinking the Region with the center into the Acid Pit below. Team Grendizer takes off as Hidoro's shifting of the crust leaves a path of destruction in its wake, as Gandal launches a Minifo attack squadron onto Earth: Marine Spazer and Drill Spazer deal with the Beast making it follow them away from civilian populations, while Grendizer deals with the fleet, which he disposes of quickly and returns to assist the Spazers. As the Spazer deal with the Beast, they discovered another ability of the Daku; capable to separate to avoid projectiles. The Marine Spazer is shutdown, though it lands safely in the lake. Grendizer then arrives to fight Daku, giving some hits and shutting it down with Spin Saucers, Screw Punch and Melt Showers.

Grendizer then ejects for the final confrontation, and Hidoro separates his Beast: one set of components (with the Hidoro on the head cockpit) fighting Grendizer, while the rest fights the Drill Spazer. Trying to avoid the laser beams, Grendizer corners itself to a cliff side and Hidoro blasts, burying the mecha in the rubble and melting it with the Acid, sticking to it. Hidoro calls the others components with the antenna, which Duke notice: he fires Space Thunder to stun the monster as it reconfigure, Koji arrives and helps Duke out of the muck by grabbing onto the D-Spazer, Daku Daku then follows them. Grendizer tries to hit Daku with Double Harken though it avoids and then hops on the Spazer. As Daku flies towards its incoming foe, it opens fire, but Grendizer jumps, and swipes the Double Harken again, this time cutting the antenna off. Losing control, Daku/Hidoro crash. Grendizer tries to finish off the beast with Double Harken but destroys the body, as the head cockpit takes off with Hidoro in it. Koji blocks his escape attempt by firing Drill Missile shutting the head cockpit down and killing Commander Hidoro in the process.

The team then flies home, looking at the region below, having avoided a major disaster.
