This is my latest WIP, a tail I've nicknamed The Cybernatural due to its bright turquoise accentuations, which to me give it a cyber-ish feel, and the 'natural' addition of feathers. This is the first yarn tail to have feathers added onto it, so we'll see how that goes. This is a side view to better show the two feathers I have put on it thus far. The rest of the tail will continue on in the turquoise/black/gray mottled colorscheme, with a few additional feathers where they seem appropriate.
The tip's actually white. It looks light gray in this pic. It would've looked nice that color, too.
I'm quite happy with it so far X3
Made using the Bir Method. Yup--100% yarn, except for those feathers and the metal keyring at the top!
Come visit us and our tails!

It's about 19 inches long and 4.5 inches across, prolly a little poofier when actually worn and not just lying there.
I'll definitely have a final pic of it up, in any case. I'm hoping it works, because I like the idea of a tail with feathers in it X3
And, even if I don't sell this one, if it works I could always make a longer/poofier one for ya if you really like how it turns out as a commission^^

I really want to try this method on some personal tails, is there some form of tutorial anywhere on this?
I can see a bit of what you did thar in this picture, but i'd love to see a tutorial. I think I could make myself an AWESOME horse tail with this method. Not to mention some pretty interesting mane/hair on a horsie fursuit head!

^^ I actually learned how to do this from my friend Bir. I don't want to give out any details of her method, just because it's really hers, not mine, but if you Noted her or something, she's really nice and I'm sure she'd love to give you some tips/show you her tutorial if she still has it somewhere!
Yup.
I don't know how well it's gonna work, though. One of the feathers fell off when I tugged lightly on it. Like, not because of how it was sewn, but because the feather bundles I am using are unfortunately not as well constructed as I hoped : / I've been testing the others as I put them on now, and they've held firm, so maybe it was just a fluke...
I'll just have to finish the tail and wear it around to see, I guess.
