I present to you one of the ever-playful otters at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo taken December 31, 2020. The look on its face is priceless. The otters have such a good time. They like to show off for the public! And then they just play for the heck of it. Have you ever seen otters not look happy? Sometimes it just overwhelms them.
This place is on the side of a mountain in Colorado Springs. It's unlike any zoo you've likely ever been to. Everything feels more natural. Enclosures are built into the natural landscape. So much of it feels like a window into the real worlds of the animals. It has a great atmosphere, especially in the winter. You'll be frigid as you work your way up the mountain. Some animals are indoors this time of year, those less suited for the cold Rocky Mountain weather. The snow leopard and amur cats are incredibly happy and more active. They love the snow!
The otters really love it, too. As you can tell! They frolick and play. They don't even stop at night. Yes, the zoo has an "electric safari" during the holiday season every year. It's my favorite time to visit.
This photo didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped due to the glare from the glass and reflection. The glass was smudged and blurred the image. I really wish this came out better since it's such a cute capture.
Otter lovers, for your convenience, a link to the previous otter photo I posted: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39623092/
And the previous to it: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39495881/
