So, in the further attempt to test my new 100-400mm Telephoto lens I stopped by the Western North Carolina Nature Center. They keep some cool animals here, Bobcat, Cougar, Bears, Hellbender [it's a real creature], River otters, Red Panders, Turkey Vulture, Great Horned Owl, Grey, and Red Foxes, Grey and Red Wolves! So, most of the time the animals are resting, not doing too much... I lucked out, because it was feeding time for the Red Wolves. So I got to watch them race around their enclosures and tear into some stuff... while rolling around like goof balls. Was fun!

Taking photos of zoo animals is always challenging, due to the enclosures. Even if you can get your lens past the front fence, there's usually a background fence to try to avoid including. I've gotten some really good pictures of captive wildlife but I've also had shots ruined when the autofocus "feature" locked onto the front fence. You've got much better cameras than I do.
Yeah, the autofocus can be an absolute pain to deal with. I have found in my camera there is a option to set a minimum focusing distance, though for these shots with the new 100-400 lens I got it has a feature to not focus on anything within 5 meters. [Incidentally, it still doesn't work that great and I have TONS of fence shots lol]
