This is a small piece of history for a drawing of my authorship.
Don't be too harsh. Surprisingly, the translator translated more or less well, and I hardly even had to change the text.
Henry and Rowena are the parents of my main characters (including Sarami). In this story, they are presented in their youth. In the text there are only some difficulties with tenses, but I think this is not such a strong problem ...About a year had passed since Salekhard appeared in the royal stable, but he was still wild and indomitable. The grooms were afraid not only of taking him out for a walk, but even of feeding him. As a result, the horse constantly stood in a stall in the stable and never let anyone in. No one but one ...
- Salekhard! I brought you apples! - heard the voice of the prince, who entered the stable with a small rag bag. The stallion immediately turned his face towards the entrance, snorting fervently and starting to pull his nose towards the boy. Henry smiled as he entered the stall completely without fear and began to treat his pet to apples, one by one.
- You weren’t taken out for a walk again? Are you mischievous again? - even with a certain sadness, Henry asked him, talking as if to a man, while stroking his face, - nothing ... now we will take a walk ...
Putting a bridle on Salekhard so that the horse would not run away, Henry led him into the fields, tightly squeezing the reins. And then you never know what a restive stallion will come to mind.
Summer time was Henry's favorite time, it was always warm and you could spend time in nature, because autumn and winter were very cold. Henry settled down on the grass, still clutching the long reins, and Salekhard grazed beside him, eating grass and sometimes shaking his head, from which the white mane began to shimmer in the rays of the setting sun. However, this idyll was interrupted by a familiar girlish voice. The Prince of Crosszeria had never expected to see his friend Rowena here.
- Greetings, your highness, - she said politely, and with a smile made a slight curtsy. Henry smiled and shook his head.
- I asked, just call me Henry ...
- Unfortunately, the daughter of a blacksmith is not supposed to call the prince by name, - the girl smiled sweetly, patting her eyelashes.
- In our case, you can…- Henry smiled back at her. Salekhard at that moment raised his head at once with his ears flattened and snorted loudly, flaring his nostrils. He was clearly unhappy with Rowena's presence. The redhead, in turn, felt it, taking a fearful step back. Feeling this frightened gesture, Salekhard immediately began to hit the ground with his hoof, digging up the ground, continuing to press his ears. Henry stopped it immediately by tugging at the reins.
- Stop it, Sali! Rowena, do not be afraid, he is not as scary as he tries to seem, - the prince assured his friend.
- You know, - she began with an uncertain smile as she walked over and sat down next to Henry on the grass, - I remember well how Mr. Stright brought him and how wild he was. How he reared up and whinnied loudly, ready to kick anyone with his hooves. His Grace your father was not ready to accept such a gift and wanted to give it to the Charro to devour ... But you ... - Rowena looked into Henry's eyes with admiration, - then you fearlessly sat astride him. I was so scared ... I thought he would throw you off, kill you ... And you were not afraid ... What's the secret?
Henry was silent for literally a few minutes, trying to formulate what he felt at the moment when he approached the wild stallion, which a minute ago stood on his hind legs ready to hit the king on the head ... Biting his lip, the young prince even grinned.
- Yes, there is no secret ...
- Weren't you scared at all?
- Of course it was. But I knew that I would die if I show him this ... - Rowena clapped her eyes in surprise, and Henry immediately hurried to explain, you know, he ... - He was afraid himself. Because they were afraid of him. He's like a mirror, - Crosszeria stretched out his palm and smiled looking at his horse, and Salekhard took a step towards the owner and pressed his muzzle to his palm, snoring again funny.
- Stroke him, Rowena ...- he said suddenly.
- What? Not. I still want to live ... - the red-haired immediately got up and took a step back, straightening her wrinkled dress. Henry stood up just as quickly, taking a shorter rein.
- Please, just trust me ... Don't be afraid. If you are afraid of him, he will deliberately scare you in order to keep you away ... Just reach out.
Henry saw a strong emotion in his friend's eyes, so tightly squeezing the reins under the bridle so that the horse would not twitch, he held out his hand to her, looking into her eyes. Sincerely wishing that two of his close friends would become friends.
Rowena seems to trust only the prince, gently stretched out her hand in response and Henry was immediately able to take her hand in his, pressing it to the stallion's face. The girl even tightened her eyes for a moment, but when she realized that nothing was happening, she opened her eyes and was surprised. The horse stood calmly and only breathed noisily, moving its ears nervously.
- Amazing ... - she whispered in amazement, and when Henry removed his hand, Rowena very gently stroked Salekhard's face with her fingers. Gently, and friendly, already becoming bolder - hello, Salekhard ... Good boy ...
Her voice sounded quiet, but confident. The horse stopped feeling frightened by her and immediately calmed down himself. He just snorted back, starting to feel the hem of her dress with his lips.
Henry smiled broadly, stroking Salekhard's neck and looked at Rowena again.
- You see ... I told you.
- It's incredible. It is imperative to tell His Majesty.
- He doesn't care, - the prince sighed, - Do you want to ride? - without waiting for an answer and taking a step back with the horse, Henry gently tapped his fingers on his shoulder. This surprised Rowena, and even more surprised that, at the command of his young master, Salekhard lay down with a loud snort.
Crosszeria smiled and bowed slightly.
- Please, my lady ... - and then pointed to the back of the stallion. Rowena was embarrassed and pursed her lips,
- What a lady ... what are you ...
- Sit down already,- Henry chuckled and shook his head.
He helped his friend to get on horseback, after which he sat down with her, and holding his friend by the waist, told her to hold on to the mane, and he himself held the reins tightly.
- I don’t know how to ride ... - the girl warned, just in case.
- And don't ... We won't run, don't be afraid ...
And as soon as Henry gave a short whistle, the horse rose to his feet with a shake of his head and simply walked forward towards the horizon. Rowena was amazed to the core, smiled enjoying the sun setting behind the mountains. And only after a couple of minutes she said.
- I wish I could ride a horse ... And I can't have my own horse ...
- And you will be able ... And you will have a horse. It's not a problem, - Henry said with a shrug and a smile, to which Rowena chuckled as she looked away.
- Servants are not supposed to ... And horses are not given to them either ...
- For the maids, no. And to the queen - yes, - the prince said confidently with a smile, squinting from the bright and so warm sun.
