Funny fact: English used to have prefixes for human gender. Were for man, wif for woman. We still see traces of that in things like werewolf and wife.

So Werewolf literally translates as man-wolf.

So a mouse that transforms into a horrible unholy combination of wolf and mouse could be a werewolf, but among furries that have more species to choose from, it might even be more efficient to call them by their origin species+wolf. The olde English word for mouse, is mus.
