A runic mage usually needs an object that can be used to write runes on (Like the earrings). The beads in her hair are a special kind of mechanism that changes the runic inscription depending on the core beads calibration (the one that is attached to her hair) while simultaneously providing a small runic script as they are executed in a sequence from the core bead.
In short it's a basic runic Cronux. A weapon of sorts that serves an aesthetic purpose as well.
