So Vov is doing a pokemon thing and invited me to tag along with him and his new concept. And I loved it so much that I immediately jumped in. Because he's fantastic, he not only allowed me to make a character related to his, he actually drew and colored a design for the handsome boyo for me. I was so inspired by this, especially because the characters are both Jolteons, which is my favorite eevee evolution, I just had to draw him myself. Originally, he was going to be Vov's jolteon Volt's brother, but at some point he just came to life and has since been recast as Volt's estranged father.

Volt's mother is insane. They had Volt on accident at a much too early age, breaking up when Helix here finally came out of the closet. His wife was furious that he would leave her, and though Helix promised to be in the boy's life, the mother was just not having it and kept Volt away from his father on purpose, trying to manipulate everyone involved by saying things about Helix being abusive and such, cheating on her with his new boyfriend, which is completely false. Helix did have a boyfriend when they broke up, but they did not actually start dating until much after the divorce. Anyway, point is that Helix paid child support and often went to court over custody of his son and it was a whole mess. Helix is a street racer, the leader of a crew of seven people, whom he's been working with for easily 20 years, so it was not long before he was arrested and charged for that nonsense, spending some number of years in prison. Meanwhile, Volt has never met his father and is desperate for male leadership of some kind, so he goes looking for Helix, finding the crew instead. They take him in without question, teaching him how to mod cars and how to drive them and so on, becoming his new family almost. So when Helix gets out of jail, he finds two cars waiting for him- an empty one and one with his son revving the engine and giving him the head nod.

Was the best race that Helix ever lost, he was in tears he was so proud of his boy and now the two are finally able to live together, Volt's mom having been committed to a psychiatric facility after Helix was sent to prison. She had no one to dump her crazy on so it started to show its ugly head in the public eye and she was eventually sent away after a huge blow up in a store lead her to assault a police officer. Anyway, Helix finally has his son now and though witty and edgy and just an all around fun guy, Helix is not great at being a father. He's too concerned about being Volt's friend to really be an affective father figure but he's doing his best. Instead of making Volt do his homework or go to bed on time, they stay up late and watch horror movies and eat junk food like crazy and just... not appropriately dad behavior. Fortunately, Helix is married to his husband by this time and the houndour kind of fills in the blanks a little, not wanting to pretend to be Volt's father, the two are not related, but he does just want to help the boy learn more life skills and is always there to give advice or to soothe emotional outbursts.

Helix and his husband already have two girls that they raised from infancy, but I'm not sure if they are little when the story starts or if they are actually older like adults, who also pitch in and help their brother as much as they can, even though he is their "step" sibling, they do not see the difference, family is family. Gotta figure that part out at some point. I think I want them to be older... that maybe Volt stays with them for a bit until Helix gets out of jail. But me and Vov gotta talk it out.
