Amongst my thoughts and various choices,
I seem to always lead back to a crossroad of sorts,
the sign's always blank,
but to me they always say something,
and it's always different either in words or thoughts,
But I realize along this make-believe path,
that I have to make choices,
I can't just sit here and wait,
I have to keep moving forward,
because this is my crossroads,
and we will meet again soon enough...

This took me forever to do,
Inspired by some friends, telling me i can be as good as the artists i admire,
so I put everything into this picture, all my knowledge and skill,
and maybe I still have room to improve, and I know i still have a LONG way to go,
But I'm proud at this moment, and will be even when i'm better,
because its the point in time, I chose, I chose to be better then them,
and to practice and learn how, to study and earn my right to be one day, maybe commissioned by them...
One day, a dream along a long fretful road of uncertainty,
For I have made a decision, and chosen a path, at my crossroads...

The shading is gorgeous, and it feels like your most detailed pic to date (well, that I've seen.)
Since you love critique though... the perspective seems a bit off, and I can't really put my finger on it :/ Additionally, your paw looks tiny in comparison to your head there... sorry these aren't terribly specific, but might help you with where to look.
Also, the shadow indicating a crevice to the lower back of your neck makes it look like you have a collarbone, er, on your back... a tiny anatomy nitpick that can be corrected pretty quickly, by reverting the shading there to something relatively flat. If you reach back, you'll notice that that part of your neck smoothly bleeds into your back and doesn't have a "ridge" delineating the two like you have up front. At least, this is the case on me, and the fact it looks "off" to me suggest it's a standard part of human anatomy :P
I hope that's useful. Other than that, beautiful :) I'll probably wind up using the wallpaper variant on one of my computers :D
