Hmm. I don't know if that's the only reason. If that were the case, he would've had more frustration and worry about these four reindeer and what they're doing. Also, I'm not so certain that these reindeer are really being good guys here, considering the fact they're literally brainwashing the entire town to make it into a new Santa's Village, essentially. As for the tree comment, I believe that Virmir explained in earlier posts about lore that his race care for the trees. I can't recall if he said they outright worship them or not, but there's a reason that when he swears, he uses trees instead of the name of a deity.
