An old photoshoot that fell short of the mark for me but I still think has some interesting elements :P
Here I was photographing a "miami" cornsnake and an "okeetee" cornsnake together. These are snakes that have been selectively bred to have certain background colors. Miamis are supposed to have a very light beige or gray/white background (I prefer gray/white), while okeetees are supposed to have very bright yellow-orange backgrounds. Okeetees also usually have very thick saddles but this guy's some kind of hypo too.
The background color is from "line breeding" meaning there are many genes that cause the look, not a single mutation.
I thought it was a cool study in the variability of "normal" cornsnake colors even if the picture quality isn't quite up to what I'd like. I've sold the miami pair tho so I can't take more :/ Can only have so many snakes XP
For those of you into cornsnake morphs, the miami is actually a hypo (type A) and I'm pretty sure the okeetee is a sunkissed (another kind of hypo, also sort of a pattern morph. There's like a million hypo genes in corns, or at least 7)

No problem, I feel the same way about ball python genetics! And even though I love genetics and cornsnakes, even I don't want to keep track of the plethora of the hypo mutations XP
Yep, I breed these guys! I have some eggs incubating now, although this year I intend to be a very small year and did not breed a few pairs I could have. Too much stuff going on!

what kinds do you like to breed?
i think i always wanted what they call sometimes a 'blood red'. they say it's not lacking any particular pigment but it DOSE have extra red pigment. i wanted one with some black in it, too. i also wouldn't mind having a charcoal. or maybe a white one with NON-red eyes. you know?

Oh man, I had a blood red but I ended up selling him :/ I bought him as a girl but he turned out to be a boy... pretty but I just didn't have any plans!
Currently I've just got a clutch of normals/aneries/amels/snows and a clutch of normals/amels/aneries/butters/caramels/motleys incubating. I've got a few "plasma" (lavender bloodred) babies I'm growing up but they won't be ready for years.
Nice bloodreds are very handsome though! I really like the pewters too (bloodred + charcoal)

yeah, pewters~ ! ffffff
so you breed lavenders and bloodreds and get plasmas? what do they look like? i haven't heard of them before. i stopped researching corn snakes so hard because my folks say i can't have one. my dad seems to like them okay, but he's obviously prejudiced against snakes. we have a rat problem, so i wished a big black rat snake would come to our house and eat them all. a few months later, i found out my dad found one such a snake curled up on our porch under assault of blue-jays or something. he promptly killed that poor snake. i felt awful. he just ASSUMED it was a copper-head, even though all venomous Texan snakes are easily recognizable or else pretty mellow animals.

Beautiful snakes! ARGH! The more I see your snakes, the more I want more, argh. Gotta really set up better for mine, and take pictures. Finally found my camera too, only to LOSE the charger for the battery. ARGH.
But in any event, they are lovely, lovely, and beautiful patterns. And reading the comments above, Pewters! I would love to get one, and wow that is a a lot of different babies in a clutch! I love how it's like friggin skittles with cornsnake babies when they are born, LOL.

Yes, I was told the okeetee was a "hypo" when I bought him but many people on the forums swear he's a sunkissed, and I think he is too.
As to selective breeding, the ones I got WERE selectively bred for color, hence why I was putting the locality names in quotes! I know some people really like the wild variety, and those are great too, but these are line-bred.

Looking at this (http://iansvivarium.com/morphguide/sunkissed/ ), I'd say definitely sunkissed. Maybe with the dilute gene showing. Or maybe a ultramel sunkissed ( http://iansvivarium.com/morphguide/.....amelsunkissed/ ). I'd say that, or a bloodred if he lost the saddles. I also found that hypo amels look similar to him, but he has too much black for that.
The first category of Ian's Vivarium (http://iansvivarium.com/cornsnakemorphs.php ) is actually wild corn morphs, which include miami and okeetee. Of course you can breed a okeetee with an okeetee and get okeetees, or breed a miami with a miami and get miamis, and normals perhaps in all the clutches those morphs would produce, but either way, they're all pretty. :D

Eh, wild corns come in a lot of different colors, depending where you are! Miami are named after the phase generally found in miami, okeetee for the very orange corns found in the okeetee hunt club area, etc. I'd say your average cornsnake has a brownish background though, not really gray or orange or red.
