Good question! I think it's worth remembering that post-apocalypse can have different interpretations. Post-apocalypse can be seen as the world after a global terrible catastrophe that destroyed life itself, and the consequences of events that disrupted the social system and threw civilization into a wild state of barter and brute force. Both options are terrible, but the second option provides a lot of ideas about how society would exist after the global crisis.
And since everyone has a need for a safe home, I think a well-organized and secured shelter in a post-apocalyptic world would be very valuable.
