Though his name is Maqu (Maw-KUU), he is usually called the Scholar or Maqu the Scholar. He has others but this is the one he is using now.
Even though he looks like he will eat you, if you can hold a conversation or he finds you intriguing in some way, you're safe. Just don't try to harm him or steal his knowledge.
His main hobby is learning new magic and crafting techniques. He has become quite versatile and can cast a very wide range of spells. Some quite powerful.

Usually he is found with his nose in a book.
