Note: Not my favorite of the Saucer Beast drawings, mostly because the ones on the side are is copy paste and inverted. This one was done on a rush:P
Dozu Dozu were three cat like Saucer Beasts from Ep.44 of the Grendizer Anime; control by Commander Girand, they were unique for been far smaller than the previous Beasts shown by far, indeed half the size of Grendizer, and work in coordination due to their masters commands using a Control Whip (like a Lion Tamer controlling Lions) which send sub-frequency to send commands. The three Beasts shard the same design and abilities.
There vehicle form is the stereotypical Saturn Shape Saucers: Top and Bottom were lavender in color, with a black ring shield around them and portholes on the top of the shell. The Robot forms are cat like, with a large curve horn on the head and smaller horns on the sides of the head and black marking around the green eyes; hunchback purple torso with light and dark gray legs and white claws in the feet, and a long dark gray tail. Three Spikes come out from the Saucer Shell on the sides. Beside been fast and agile, they were able to fired Red Fire from the mouth and a Green Energy beam from the horn meant to dig their way below ground (both compose of Vegatron). They could also mass shift, as one moment they were able to sneak into the base, but later were about half the size of Grendizer in their final battle, although this can be explain as animation error. They also possess X-Ray Eye Sight. The UFO shells would then move angle and become wings, allowing them flight.
While studying an old stone tablet, Zuril informs Gandal that an ancient Vega ship came to Earth 100 years ago and left a a receptive device that transmits electric signals in a location close to the Space Center; with it they could take surveillance of the Center without calling Grendizer's attention.
Meanwhile, Daisuke, Koji, Hikaru and Goro are at a festivity while a young man explorers a cave next to the shrine; in it contaning pictoral carvings depecting the events of 100 years ago, confirming the visit of aliens to the area, but before he could explore any further (attracted to a reflection) is caught and force out by the Shrine Guardians. His sister, Midori pushes the guards and the two escape, the Guards followed them and are later misguided by Daisuke directions, allowing the siblings to escape. The Siblings thanks Daisuke, and the young explorer explains he has found evidence of alien visitation in the cave, and proceeds to return back at. Explaining they are both orphans, Midori's brother spents more time exploring ruins, the villagers viewing him as a crazy person. Feeling pity for Midori, Daisuke along with the others decide to help her enjoy the festivities and lighten her spirits up.
Side Note 1: Do NOT ask me the Brother's name, it is NOT mention in the episode. Midori refers to him as Brother, and considering what happens a bit later, you'll understand why. Also, if you hadn't caught up with this, Midori is the center focus of the Episode.
Later that night, Midori wakes up to be alone in her house, her brother not having return. Indeed he is back in the cave exploring, falling down a hole and finding the Receptive Device; as he touches, it activates, sending a signal, and a Minifo ,accompanied by three smaller others, land in the cave. Its master comes out and kills the young man with a ray gun, then taking possession of the corpse as a disguise. He then proceeds with his mission and sends his Pets, the Dozu Beast to infiltrate into the lab, by digging their way. The energy emission (Vegatron) wakes Daisuke up and goes to investigates. The Dozus break in and explore, finding the Power Room, but before they could break in, Daisuke spots them and sounds the alarm, the Beasts attack and he changes to his Duke Combat outfit to fight the Beasts, Koji coming to assist. The Beasts sneak into the Power Room to study it, Umon arrives and orders to activate the inner defenses, Girand orders his Dozu to retreat and escape, blocking the entrance tunnel. Duke follows using his pain of Vegatron as guidance, while Girand orders the beasts to wait underground.
Side Note 2: You know the whole thing with Duke's Vegatron wound irks me a bit, because it becomes a deus ex machina in of itself. Remember, this started like a cancerous poison that afflicted him and would kill him someday, but now it's a detection and radar device in of itself that acts every time the smallest amount of Vegatron energy is emitted. This had to be a plot element added later in the series, because I don't remember this in the manga at all (please, correct me if I'm wrong here). If Grendizer is EVER rebooted, this element needs to be kept out.
Duke finds Girand, realizing he is has killed and posses the body of the brother and the two briefly fight, shutting and wounding him, forcing Girand out and running back into the cave and his ship, but before he could through one last grenade, his is gun-down by Duke and the Grenade explodes with him and his ship.
Side Note 3: And there you have it, a pointless end to two pointless characters. Time stamp of Girand's presence in the episode you ask? 09:59 to 16:10, and his control over the Brother's corpse is from 10:30 to 15:56. Not even SEVEN MINUTES he lasts, and he has control of the Brother Suit for barely six minutes of those. I was so disappointed with this, it became the major factor to not draw the guy in the pic. You'd would think they are going for a major story here with the possession but NOPE; expectations subverted. Now you know why Brother is just called brother.
Midori then finds his brother corpse outside the cave and sees Duke holding the gun, thus blaming him for his death, but before he could explain, he is called back as the Dozus attack the Space Center. Double and Marine Spazers are launched to fight the beasts, though these prove too agile for them. As Grendizer is launch, Midori takes hold of Girand's control whip, which the Dozus respond to and fly back to the control of their new master. While scare at first, she realized (somehow) she has control of them via the whip and uses them to seek her revenge on Duke for her brother's death.
Side Note 4: and out of nowhere, Midori becomes the last minute villain of the Episode - WHAT?
Midori sents the Dozu to fight Grendizer, who fends their attacks with Screw Crusher Punch, Double Harken and Anti Gravity Storm, though power by Midori's hate and grief, the Beasts persist in the attack and unable to deal with their fast agile abilities, Grendizer jumps back to the Spazer, though the Beast try to push him down, the Mecha cuts them with the Double Harken and finishes all three monsters with Space Thunder destroying them. Their destruction leads to the destruction of the Control Whip, which zaps Midori into unconsciousness.
Time later, at the grave of her brother, Midori comes to learn the truth of what had happened and departs to live with undisclosed relatives, bidding farewell to the others.
Side Note 5: No seriously, the poor brother is still NOT named at this point. Do his name ever got reveal in the related merchandise?
