This is an onager, a type of donkey known as the half ass or the Asian Wild Ass. Specifically this one is a Khur, dressed up in the costume of an Indian Prince. Onagers have the most amazing faces.

Your style really does remind me of some of the work that's being done for it, and your sense of costume design is spot-on.. (I LOVE his hat!!!)...
