hello, and thank you! It is digital, all done in clip studio paint. I can't work without texture so i've collected a handful of brushes + always have a paper/canvas texture overlaid on the image. I've found the 'watercolor edge' setting v important to fiddle with, gives each stroke more noise and individual character. Slight color jitter is helpful too. I work everything on one layer like traditional media to let it overlap and mix.

The original inspiration was just the commissioner's character w/ no prompt or direction given. I gathered some reference that seemed interesting for me and set to work pulling elements from them + defining the figure. I try not to get too caught up in detail or accuracy, more focusing on enjoying making + exploring. For the composition as a whole all I can say is I add things until it feels intuitively resolved, trying not to get *too* noisy.
