As always an amazing story for UTO. However I have to agree with the comment on the sofurry page.
Rufu just isn't a great match for Kenny. She has serious anger issues. She might be in control enough not to directly harm him, but I wouldn't want to be Kenny. She basically left him to die and got to get back together with just a sorry. If I was Kenny, that would have been the end, I would have never even looked at her again after that.

But putting that aside, Kenny has a really bad stutter in almost any situation.
This, combined with how she usually treats him in public leads people to feel bad for him, which makes Rufu angry at the accusations, which just reinforces what they think. It's not like she looks like she's abusing him, but it makes her look too controlling, which is a very bad image to have in UTO when you're in public with a human.
The UTO species with a stronger development of empathy, like Lupari, are much quicker to see this and start wondering if Kenny is in danger.

Finally, Kenny had an opportunity to hide and chose not to because he would "have to hide from Rufu too", yeah... he should have just done that.
IMO, if you're in imminent danger and you come to the perfectly reasonable conclusion that you can't hide because you'll make your giant girlfriend mad and leave you there without even thinking of why you would be hiding, then you shouldn't be together.
