I think the only thing I can immediately share about this one without muddying its central message is that it is based on an old adage from my late Grandfather's generation, and which I have modified to fit into a new framework. Beyond it, the words need to speak for themselves...

As a bird, oftentimes driven to bitter misanthropy, I can confirm this is quite the eternal truth of the matter... I can only be glad that I know the continual joy of self-overcoming when I myself fall inevitably into such traps... Thanks for pointing me back to this poetic gem; a rough uncomfortable gem, sure, but a solid gem of an artwork in terms of its true impact on me. Excellent work here, my friend!
I've known (several variations of) the original adage upon which it is based, and I've always wanted to find a proper and appropriate time and place to use it. I think that considering the reality that we all find ourselves living in at the moment, truly axiomatic bits of unvarnished truth are indeed as rare as valuable gems.
