A 'new' signal head has been fitted to this mast since last year. It's still missing it's sibling on the other side of the tracks however. As one might expect, the base is empty. Looking at the width of the right of way it looks like there was a siding here when under SP operation.
The PLA (Pacific Locomotive Association) was lucky in this area. When the SP pulled the line, they left behind the ties over most of it which meant relaying the tracks in this area was almost as simple as spiking down rail.
