Blood Magic (Erebus' Alternate design)
Nehhh, I had this in my head too much so I finally just sketched it up. 2 days ago I was discussing with
about alternate 'copyright safe' forms for our pokesonas, since some people don't like drawing pokemon and if I ever made a full fledged comic about them people would get confused about the mix of pokemon with guild wars or whatever story they are in that is not pokemon related.
So we've been putting our heads together and coming up with alternative sort of 'back-up' designs for our sonas, and we're trying to make as little change as possible to how they originally looked.
This is my design for Erebus, he looks about the same, he's still got Lavender fur, but the difference is that his jewel is now a marking and his tail is 2 long fox tails with black tips wrapped in bandages. He's a fennec fox, so he doesn't look much different in body structure than his original look. He has hiss tails wrapped to give them more weight, firstly for training as a necromancer (they have to learn to endure pain and strain on the body) and secondly to make his tails into useful weapons if he needs to use them. The heavy weight can cause quite an impact if he ever decides to use them, and the two spiked bands near the top can cause a lot more damage with that amount of force behind them.
Something I've never shown about Erebus is that when he uses his spells, his necromancer 'scars' appear on his face, they're sort of a dark red and look like claw marks over his eyes.
I've always pictured necromancer spells to look like this, since necromancy is about sacrifice and discipline. The more powerful the spell, the more blood needs to be used, unless the spell is a specialized kind that takes more toll on the body's energy instead of blood. The other exception is magic that draws energies from the dead, but of course this power is only limited to however many bodies are available, and bodies can only supply enough energy for one spell. So when a necromancer casts a spell, I imagine they probably gash or prick themselves for the blood they need to use, or they draw up the necromatic energies from the dead.
And yes, he's nekkid in this, if I ever finish it I'll add clothes but this is to show his body shape
