I think the deal is that the grip looks more like a straight stick instead of the angled shape and sensual curves of a pistol grip. The kind that conform to your hand as though it had missed your touch, and longs for your gentle caress...

Looks pretty good to me, could be one of the newer type semiauto rifles that are all stock. I've got a few firearm refs sitting around in my scraps if you ever wanna eyeball a gun from different angles before arting.

Bushmaster M17S is really close to the design you are looking for. Nice gun still.

I thought it was an HK G11

The H&K G11 is a top loaded caseless rifle. The M17S is a bullpup 5.56/.223 rifle.

Just Google the two of them and you will see the difference, especially in how they operate.

A second or so after the trigger was pulled, I take it. There definitely seems to be a sense of recovering from the recoil there.

Never really understood the reasoning behind bullpup sniper platforms. Any gun is going to be long and unwieldy if they fit that role well. Then again, bullpups aren't easy to draw and in reality are rarely pretty (AUG being those exception).

Looks good though.

Also, without anything hard like a wall or a bipod to stablize the rifle, a seated shooter will usually be trained to drape the weapon over their knee like so...

Much more stable and comfortable for extended periods of waiting.

In a traditional rifle system, the stock represents wasted space and dead weight.
In a bullpup rifle system, that wasted space and dead weight is deleted, resulting in a shorter and lighter rifle with the same performance as the traditional rifle.
