Death's Garden
Portrait of my version of Death, a character I often play in my little rp world. In my mind Death is in the eye of the beholder, he/she/it can be beautiful, or ugly, foul, or comforting. Death appears as whatever the soul of the passing wishes to see.
I like to picture that Death is a beautiful, welcoming 'spirit'. Where would we be in Life, if there was no Death to make your time here that much sweeter? Isn't life and death so entwined that they are but one and the same?
Why is Death in white? Well in other cultures it is the symbol of death or mourning. Calla lilies are of course, a flower often found in funeral homes, beautiful, elegant and associated with some of the saddest, most horrible times in our lives.
---
A little washed out in places, but one of my favorites of my personal paintings. I think I made his nose a little too small, but what's done is done. It still turned out pretty.

A beautiful picture, and yes, the hair is lovely. I also like the expression, it fits for Death somehow, especially with your description of him/her/it.
That description is very interesting and comforting in a way, though I think I'm too tainted by my reading habits, because I hope/want death to be a seven foot skeleton THAT TALKS LIKE THIS and rides a horse called Binky. ^_^
Did I say his expression was good? Strike that; it's awesome.
