You guys probably heard of it right now, but for those who don't, Pokémon partned up with McDonald's this month to release a set of special Trading Cards to celebrate the 25th anniversary fo the franchises. The cards feature all the starters from all 8 generations, plus a exclusive Pikachu on a McDonald's restaurant, totalizing 25 cards. This is without counting the holo version of the cards, which gives us 50 cards in total.
However, it seems that some scalpers are buying multiple Happy Meals in order to obtain as many cards as possible, so they can re-sell them on the web by vastly inflated prices for any collectors out there (which are, more often than not, adults). There's also the McDonald's staff who is stealing the card stock before they reach the restaurants so they can sell them as well. This is causing quite the backlash, possibly almost as frightening as the whole Schezuan Sauce Scandal! These scammers most of the time don't even bother eating the food, and they try to disguise their actions by donating the meals to starving kids... and keep the cards for themselves.
Scalping is obviously nothing new, but I thought: A group of scummy adults trying to strike rich by selling KIDS merchandise for OTHER adults, who probably don't even HAVE children of their own? How would the KND react to that? This was my answer.
Just making something about the whole ordeal before it becomes irrelevant. What do you guys think of this entire charade? As much as the companies involved (McDonald's, Pokémon, Game Freak, etc) are not above scummy practices, they don't really deserve this. And neither does the kids who wanted these cards.

Hmmm, seems like an appropriate topic that would've been covered in one shape or form in the show...even back during the original airing run, as this isn't a new problem in collecting, but gotten only grosser in recent years (such as that guy who got basically a room full of PS5s...and got promptly robbed of said PS5s after he gloated about it...not saying who did THAT, but well, KIDS do like video games...)
I suspect if it were in-universe, there'd likely be a Rainbow Monkeys equivalent...and well, that'd send Numbuh 3 into a RAGE
