Picture of  techno.'s Springtail, a new robot ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40172859/ ) facing a misunderstanding with Eugene the Jeep. The scene grew out of my observing that I liked the robot's Popeye-style arms. Also I'm old enough to think of them as Popeye-style rather than Mega Man-style. I'm not sure why I come back so much to the theme of Popeye characters mistaking someone for another (see also https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38887320/ ) but Eugene the Jeep is always fun to draw.

The backgrounds, so far as they're based on anything, draw from the 1960 Jack Kinney-produced Popeye short Out of this World, https://wp.me/p37lb5-36O if you'd like to see the cartoon or my thoughts about it. Mostly what I drew was the mood and color palette. Dropping white into the backgrounds of the word balloons ended up with a few antialiasing artifacts, unless those are aliasing artifacts, but I thought that worked for the picture.

Also, it's noteworthy as my first art trade ... since the 90s, certainly, possibly ever. This was fun, though, and I should try more like it.
