Having grown up in an environment that was both very Texan and very urban, and also with a habit of reading too much, I was very clear on the fact that I was supposed to have, that I deserved but was being unfairly deprived of, a farm and a barn and a sweet hiding place like a hayloft and possibly a cow that would be my friend. I also deserved fancy boots, but had no actual use for them. As you can see, this picture is basically representative of all my childhood fantasies. (I EVEN HAVE A COW TO BE MY FRIEND.)
