The sun rose over the hills as Bailey woke up from his sleep. Turning over to hug Jack, he felt nothing. Tired and confused, Bailey opened his eyes. Jack was not in the bed with him. Sad and confused, he turned to face the calendar on his wall. It was February 14th. Valentines day. This was the one day Bailey thought Jack would do something special for him. But he wasn’t even there to see Bailey wake up.
Getting up from the bed, Bailey shouted Jack’s name. He heard no reply. “Where could he be?” Bailey thought to himself as he walked out the bedroom and made his way downstairs. Photos of Bailey and Jack together lined the wall of the oak staircase. Making it to the end, Bailey called Jack’s name again. No reply still. Worried and distressed, Bailey walked around the house. No sign of Jack anywhere. Not in the kitchen making a Valentines breakfast for the both of them or in the living room surrounded by presents for Bailey.
Bailey stood still. The clock ticked loudly filling the empty silence. It read 9 am. “Maybe he’s out getting me something,” Bailey said to himself as he got out ingredients and prepared to make pancakes. Bailey began mixing the ingredients, but then he had an idea. He was going to call Jack. Grabbing his phone from the counter, Bailey went into his contacts and found Jack. His phone started ringing. Bailey’s ears perked up, he could hear Jack’s phone upstairs. He started dashing towards the stairs, almost slipping, to see his love.
But when he burst through the door, instead of Jack being there. Bailey saw nothing. Just Jack’s phone vibrating on the side. Where was he? Did he forget? Why didn’t he leave a note? Feeling upset and defeated, Bailey sat down on the bed. Tears formed in his eyes. Bailey lied down and grabbed one of Jack’s pillows. As the tears slowly dripped down his face Bailey clutched the pillow and imagined it was his true love within his arms. He started to cry and held the pillow close to his face. Then he heard a splat at the window.
Turning his face around, Bailey saw a big splash of mud, covering the window. He got up, confused and sad and looked outside. There he was. Jack, covered in mud with a massive mud pile next to him. Bailey’s sad tears turned to happiness as he opened the window and shouted “So this is what you were doing?” “Yes… sorry it took so long” Jack shouted back at the window.
Bailey rushed downstairs, with the biggest smile he had in a while and rushed outside. Jumping into the thick mud pile Jack lovingly made for him, Bailey swam around searching for his lover. But Bailey could not find him. Until a mud ball hit the back of his head. Turning around keeping the smile, Bailey saw Jack laughing at him. Sprinting with a grin, Bailey jumped at Jack and tackled him into the mud. Covered head to toe in mud, Bailey and Jack hugged and laughed as they played together and got messier. Bailey turned to Jack. “I love you,” He said as he went in for a kiss. Jack closed his eyes and kissed the love of his life. They made out in the mud. Happy as can be, Bailey booped Jacked and got his snoot wet with the warm moist mud that made them both so happy.
