A lovely commission done for me by
s00t again, which turned out exceedingly well. Artist's post is here! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40544171/
This here is Lirak, son of the last gryphon I posted, Nyphall, who isn't that far away in my gallery but here's a link anwyay. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40224147
Nyphall's idea to found the city of Highpeak was not one that could be accomplished in a single generation. He needed an heir, and of all his children Lirak was the brightest of them. Lirak was born to be a leader, taught to rule, and while he doesn't always get along with his father he agrees that there is a very limited time to rally the disparate tribes and catch up to the rest of society. He is willing to do whatever it takes to secure a future for his people. Lirak plays many roles, to the tribal heads he is Chief of the Highpeak Tribe. To the frontier barons pushing in on the wilderness the tribes call home, he is both a diplomat and an obstacle. To the common folk of Highpeak, Lirak may as well be King, though he's wary of such honorifics. Chief works well enough for him, and he finds amusement in the way that title so often makes visitors expect a brutish simpleton.
Everything about the way he presents himself to others is carefully controlled to give him any edge he can find. His clothing is always kept immaculate, in perfect order. His speech remains approachable, and yet with a hint of sophistication he's carefully cultivated. Even the glasses he wears serve a purpose: he doesn't need them to see, but he believes they humanize him to the non-gryphon races he interacts with. Of course, he also enjoys planning out such little details. Lirak loves nothing more than to look good.
Compared to his father, Lirak is a little more uptight. He's used to having things his way. He's the one in charge, after all. And he probably wouldn't be able to truthfully deny that he thinks he's better than many others, even if he thinks everyone has the potential to rise to his level. He keeps few close friends, due to his position and the need to maintain his public image just so (and perhaps his somewhat domineering nature, but that's another story). He's fiercely loyal to his friends, just as he is to his people. He has a reputation for being a tough negotiator, but a fair one.
Honestly, he's quite an enjoyable character to work with. And he's damned handsome.
