His life was hollow, save the spark of darkness that he persistently kept shackled deep in the pit of his crucified hart. In death he chose damnation for his crimes over judgment, and was subjected to worse horrors then would ever befit his crimes. Then, when the last of his sanity is all but shattered, Lucifer offers him an 'alternative'; an end to his story if he pledges his body as the vessel for the ever growing darkness that still resides within.
Daniel excepts, and his mind is put to rest in an eternal dreamless sleep while the now unrestrained darkness fills the hollow shell left behind.
Thus, the Dark Angel is born.
