If you're thinking "uhh, this snake looks way too thin" you are correct.
This is eve, a 2002 snake I got in march of last year (2009), supposedly for breeding that year. She a lavender supposedly het for anery, amel, and motley. She was advertised on cornsnakes.com which is usually a pretty good place, and from comments the snakes were said to be "ready to breed".
I did not inquire about her weight when looking in to getting her and the photos I had were blurry, but I didn't want to bother the seller a bunch and they didn't have a bad rep (one minor problem that looked to have been resolved). I've bought adults online before and have always been quite pleased with them. MY MISTAKE.
When she arrived, she looked like this. This snake is NOT ready to breed. She weighed around 250 grams. (300 is considered minimum for breeding, and all my girls who are 6 years old are at least 600 grams). Uhg. The problem with getting a snake like this, though, is you don't want to send them back!!! But if you don't return the snake you're not really entitled to demand a refund or anything. Plus the seller said they were "getting out of snakes" (good, but again, something to beware of if I'd known). To their credit they offered to work things out but it sounded like she would have been shuffled around and resold. :/ In the end I decided to hang on to her and fatten her up. (follow up picture in a minute)
Anyway, long story short - buying online is a good way to get some really interesting snakes, but don't hesitate to ask a ton of questions. Always ask for weights of adult snakes and current photos.

Yeah I mean... I don't think this seller was an outright scammer, at least, just negligent. From the looks of eve she had to have been quite neglected :/ Snakes shouldn't look like this. If the person hadn't been getting out of snakes I would have raised a bigger stink in hopes they'd be encouraged to clean up their act.
