It's a intresting quirk of Real Robot Anime, damage often stays unrepaired and alters the machine. Crossbones Gundam is the same, it loses in arm about midway in it's series and NEVER hasn't replaced. In Stardust Memory the Zeon remnants are forced to use cobbled together Suits made from Zaku, Gouf, and Gelooge parts scavenged from the battle field.
