Just another angle!
That egg in the middle, with the funny spot on it? That was a window that started to leak later in incubation D: Fortunately forums had good advice - stick a little bit of paper towel on it, egg seals itself :) I don't remember what hatched out but hatch out it did!

Yeah I wouldn't breed them twice a year but if I don't, they just lay slugs. I think that's about as taxing as fertile eggs?
Only two of my girls do this tho - they're big I just try to feed 'em and give them calcium.
I gave one the year off and one the second clutch off - both laid eggs twice. The second clutch of the one that was bred once looks to have maybe 5 fertile eggs (out of 20 or so? I didn't count this time)
Rest of my girls only have one clutch/year :)

fair enough. Slugs are no where near as taxing on the body as eggs. No calcium or anything is absorbed to make shells it's just yolk and membrane to be honest. You could fry it if you like but it's not recommended.
As long as their big and don't lose too much weight yeah it's perfectly ok. It's really just a personal choice to be honest.

LOL I've thought about cooking them up but never quite worked up the nerve to do it XD
The slugs are a bit squishier but they still seem pretty similar to fully developed eggs? I imagine some calcium is used, but perhaps not quite as much. IDK if there's any studies on it XD
I didn't breed them as much this year because I can't handle a ton of babies, but yeah, they keep a great weight. Uhg I was so mad I bought a "breeder" last year who was implied to be "ready to breed" and she was half the weight of my girls /after/ laying. GRR. Maybe I'll post about that.

Hey it's not too bad a friend of mine bought a female he was told was ready to breed. It turned out to be an obese male. I hate seeing fat snakes.
Nah i think it's just the slug hardening after being out for a bit. Anyway the female will swallow the slugs and they are a great source of nutrition for them

Otch, yeah that sucks... fat snakes :/ I've had to put a male or two on a diet, but I think all my snakes are a good weight, not too fat, not too thin!
My girls never do that... I wish they would :P I tried feeding them to the woma but she didn't eat them either!
Maybe a kingsnake???

Is it relatively easy to breed corns?
Last week I was going to purchase an albino male and het albino female ball python pair, but the deal fell through...for several reasons :P And I've been looking for what to get next and I'm just stumped. I was thinking of splitting my tank 4 ways and breeding two pairs of corns, trying to get that same B.P. pair in a couple of months when the same breeder has a similar pair again, breeding Calabar pythons, or blood pythons....there's so many options on kindsnake, I'm befuffled!
