This is magnificent. I so much want to read the story. I'm just trying to figuring out what translation to buy. BTW, he apears briefly in DBZ. Goku is intorduced to him and is told, "He is the character many of your exploits are based on."

As mentioned (twice) before I highly recomend Katsuya Terada's rendition that you can buy through Dark Horse under the title the Monkey King. I'm not entirely sure how accurate the story is since I own an original copy from asia, but it seems Terada added his own little perversions and twists, and the art is fantastic.

Thanks. That is one of the three choices. The other are a very accurate literal translation and a well recieved idiomatic translation. The last is suposed to be very faithfull to the original, but more accessable for english readers. If I go with this one I will also buy "The Monkey King" as you suggest. I understand that it is incredably popular the world over and has been responcible for introducing many children to this important classic. Plus, I want to see the art :)

Awesome piece, I particularly dig the lil choppyness with the shadow of his forearm (it's apparent every where but that's what I like the most); gives off a wide vairety of tones and wha? even tints...Tints man!! I need to read that book again...
