Malfeno is a robot boy deisgned to look like a 14 year old boy
he was made to a old man to look like his son who past away when he was very young Malfeno has a impotent role in the story

he was locked away by the old man to keep him safe form the Queen of the Black Crystal army's who was found later by Lloyd where he becomes friend with him and travles with him

Malfeno is a the key to something very special which is why the Queen wants him so bad but as long and Lloyd the Dragon Knight is protecting him he was nothing to worry about.
