This was my response to the triple-digit heat wave that attacked the West coast for over a week straight. Sitting in my office at work with the AC compressor still burned out, I wanted to draw something fun and wet ( no, not that! )
I would have had this done and uploaded sooner but:
1) Was attacked by a massive migraine earlier in the week and I'm one of those sufferers who can't see straight when that happens and
2) This is the second background I've done for this pic. I really liked the dynamic perspective of the first background I painted, but it honestly just did not work with the horizon line I drew the characters at.
Charley traded in her usual black one-piece swimsuit she sported several times in the animated series for an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow STRIPEY bikini. As for Vinnie's trunks, I was originally going to scan in some of the patterns/designs from my wardrobe of Ed Hardy clothing and do an overlay, but it struck me that Ed Hardy is probably one of those type of companies that have no qualms over the suing the little guy over fan art, so I just drew in my own designs emulating the look of Ed Hardy swimwear. Funnily, when I did the original sketch, I did quick chicken scratch on the banner to emulate the writing that usually appears on them in Ed Hardy designs ( 'Love kills slowly..' etc etc ). It wasn't until I was refining the sketch for coloring that I noticed it looked like the word "Oral" was written on his trunks. I found it so amusing I decided to leave it. Subliminal messages from Vinnie.
Speaking of, while coloring this I was watching the SyFy channel and one of their awful original gems, "Sharknado" came on. Wouldn't you know, Vinnie's voice actor played the starring role as the hero. Don't believe me there is a hilarious piece of garbage where 'Vinnie' jumps down the gullet of a great white shark with a chainsaw in midair? Then check out the trailer here

Fairly happy with the anatomy in this. It's taking less re-draws to get portions looking right, and the coloring feels a little stronger ( to me, anyway. Still have a long ways to go. Every pic thus has been a great learning experience )- I'm learning to block in shapes first in a rough, basic manner instead of diving in to everything with the intention of full detail from the get-go, and that has made things come together much smoother and easier.
Does anyone even read my full descriptions to the stuff I post? I sure am rambly. If you do, God bless you O_o
Next on the line-up, a couple of "Road Rovers" pieces.
