Dudley is afraid of feral dogs
I got the idea from Mary Poppins when Jane & Michael encountered this feral dog who was barking fiercely upon encountering. Which inspired the idea of Dudley being terrified of a fierce feral dog and about to run for his life.

Yeah, I thought it'd be funny if anthro dogs like Dudley could easily be frightened by feral dogs who bark very fiercely at strangers, like how sometimes when an owner's dog is chained to his doghouse and if they see someone who's walking up or down the owner's street where they live, they chase after the pedestrian or bicyclist and bark fiercely. Dogs can be territorial of their owner's homes.
