I'm suddenly reminded of the fact that in Phil Foglio's Buck Godot: The Gallimaufry, Humanity's contribution to galactic cuisine was... popsicles. Because of all the things we'd done, the only thing that nobody else had ever thought of before was putting a stick in frozen flavoured water and and then using the stick to hold it while eating it.
