Here is a drawing I've wanted to do for years and since I had the time yeah! Updating one of the more fantastical bits of lore in the DragonScape around Sila and the Skysles so this will be a bit of a ramble bear with me here.
During the Pulse many pieces of the Reality that was, known as Ohndem, were sundered far from their homeland. Additionally many gods, known as raddir, were torn from their home far past the Tidal chimes of the 1st construction, The Soul Clay of the 2nd construction, and the Shattered Experessionist of the 3rd construction. With hundredsof Raddir and pieces of land and people and reality from the realm known as Ohndem being flung into the Americas it is no surprise that one of those would happen to be Sila.
Sila, in mourning for the reality it once knew, would try to "catch" as many pieces of ohndemic land that would be warped through to this new reality, seizing three massive islands and catching many smaller islands. When there were too many small islands to catch Sila ripped up land from the Earth below it, it ripped up the cities of Minneapolis and Santiago (chile), using these pieces of land as nets. it would catch more pieces of land from ohndem (not to the benefit of these cities and their infrastructure). After that Sila would slowly begin turning the hunks of rock of the Skysles into Verdant gardens.
After the great slumber of the drekir (100 or 3000 years depending on canon) The drekir of the Skysles would awaken. The population of those drekir that would awaken would come from the cities that were ripped up (Santiago and Minneapolis) as well as amongst those people who were in flight, in airplanes, or in the skies at the time of the Pulse would also awake on the skysles.
Seeing this new surge of life, combined with the slow growing Realm of the Highland island, Sila felt it beneficial to it's personal "aquarium" to connect the isles via a magical river that flowed through the skies that would be known by the locals as "grario".
I'll post some doodles on the drekir of this region though they are quite different, ill post some doodles later today on them. In the meantime the tribes of the region live amongst the islands, hunting the birds, insects and gliding frogs of the region as well as gathering from the local fruits and vines. In the pulse canon of course they will be scavenging amongst the ruined cities, wrecked airplanes and helicopters for pieces of the old world to benefit their village back at their island they call home.
The Skysles are a small region of the DragonScape but was meant to be one of the more fantastical slices of the DragonScape, post apocalyptic floating islands anyone?
