That happens to me sometimes as well, yes... But yes, I know what you mean, my hair is very, very dark, and since I like redheads a lot more (my fursona is clear proof of that ), I every now and then use some simple coloring shampoos. I don't dye, though... my sis used to a couple of times, but I really don't fancy myself walking around with maroon hair!

Yeah, I'm naturally blond but I color my hair red, because my natural color is kind of mousy, like an ashy blond.
