I took this location from a a site that posts New York architecture. It's a great reference. You can tell I'm unsure about architecture because I did not really change the image's perspective. I didn't even consider it. I didn't even give much thought to the contents of the scene before I started drawing the arch. So much the better, though, as I was allowed to practice posing a character in perspective. The lines of the sidewalk really helped to ground the wolf's feet. Other positive points: the drapery worked out pretty well and I also like the judicious use of dark lines for emphasis. I'll probably develop that look later.
I had a difficult time figuring out the wolf's character, I was trying to find the balance between professional and girly-casual. I wanted her to be someone who was perhaps taking the weekend off from a demanding job. I had no idea what such a person would look like.
Anyway, I really love this wolf lady. I've had a version of her in my head for a while now. I'll probably write more about this encounter in a future submission.
