Ambershore
There had always been something... off about the synthetically terraformed worlds made by ReUniverse and Rekkavarian Worldscaping. The lack of the fauna perhaps, or the uncanny perfection of their weather systems and biospheres. It lacked the chaos of a real world, and strangely that fed a sense of unease in many people, enough to coin a term for the affliction: "The Terrarium Effect".
However, it wasn't odd off feelings or philosophical debates that had brought Lari to Ambershore, ReUniverse's latest creation. It would be here that the Gaelaro Talks would begin, the product of much labor by the Sovereign Union and the Greater Avian Empire. The Second Reptilian Revolution was at it's height, and against all odds Free Verashka had pushed it's militaristic cousins the Dekorians all the way back to the colony of Gaelaro, the line that divided the two peoples original stellar territories. It had been two years since the wars official start now, and only recently had the other empires finally stopped referring to the reptiles empire by it's old title: The Deko'Lahk Ordran Confederacy. It seemed even outsiders like Lari's people had been holding onto hope that a united reptilian nation could survive, but two long years of witnessing the vivid brutality of the fighting had changed that thoroughly.
As Lari stood on the beach of the Sovereign Union's newest colony, letting the wind ripple against their feathers and the tied sleeves of their Officials Jacket, they wondered just what the Greater Avian Empire's role would be in these days to come. The war might finally end here, before Gaelaro was swept into the firestorm, or it would push on and engulf all of Reptalia, and almost certainly drag outsiders into its embrace. Lari knew the Sovereign Union was struggling tremendously with keeping one of it's territories, the Koltic Unity, from allying officially with Verashka, and the Avian Empire itself had been desperately holding back the Humans, their ally and partial vassal, from siding with the Dekorians. A war between a territory of the Sovereign Union and the Commonwealth of Humanity would be catastrophic politically, and these talks were their one chance to avoid that outcome.
Sighing lightly to themselves, Lari turned and began walking back towards the small complex that would be hosting the peace talks any moment now. For once, they'd be there as a representative of their people, someone with true power, rather than just another journalist in the wings biting their tongue. A peace between Verashka and Dekoria would be extremely hard to achieve, some would even say impossible, but Lari had to try. They had friends from Gaelaro, good friends, and this meeting was the line in the sand that the hawk drew for themselves. If this chance at peace fell apart, then there was only one course of action left. If one side refused to have peace, they'd face the wrath of the Avians in it's must pure form, Lari would make sure of it.
If there was one thing Dekoria feared more than Grayline, it was the sleeping might of the Greater Avian Empire...
