Interesting, if not a little disturbing. I quite like how you went through the motives of the machina and why they're 'driven' to do what they do. It doesn't sound like they're just dealing with programming anymore, but have desires and motivations, even if it is to become a bit more than they already are. Definitely makes you wonder if the masters are still around.

Most of the concepts for the Machina came from me thinking about how intelligent machines would view their creators and how robots could "grow" by starting out as simple identical "assembly line" creations who could selectively upgrade both their bodies and brains to develop into different looking and thinking individuals.

Hm, certainly would be a different way to look at life and existance when you could literally 'swap minds' so to speak.
