Sometimes Bruce can't help but be a little embarrassed by his dad Jake's enthusiasm and his habit of bragging constantly about how he's got such a talented son. It certainly gets to be a bit much when he shows up on battle night and ends up having to be calmed down by mom, of all folks.

But at the same time, Bruce is thankful that he's got all that support. His father is willing to spare no expense to give him whatever he needs to make his ambitions of a professional battling career become a reality, and it helped greatly knowing that he wouldn't have to deal with his troubles alone when his school term got off to such a rocky start. And since Jake is also the head of the productions team for a local battling league, he's already got some connections that'll be quite valuable a few years down the road... many kids at the school could only wish for that kind of head start.

Plus, Jake promised that he wouldn't show off all those Cute Contest ribbons he won as a kid when Bruce invited friends over. After all, kids would much rather be the one wit the cool dad, not the cute dad.
