Roller skates were popularized around the 90s (I think?) and the designs have changed since then for stability and maneuverability. Skate boards were like snowboards, and skates were like the skis, sometimes people feel more stable with wheels on each foot rather than just under one board, y’know.

This artist lacks any core strength for either skateboarding or roller skating, but always up to the challenge to challenge myself ^^
