I wanted to draw something silly and fun for myself because it's been a long time since I've done something just for my own lolz.
Just a little something to commemorate my "spaying", I go in for it next week ;3
I'm getting a laparoscopic tubal ligation.. and while any surgical procedure squicks me out a little, .. or, a lot.. the long term benefit far outweighs my usual hesitation to volunteer for medical procedures. No crotch droppings for me!

that would be the additional reasons other than just disliking kids :P carbon footprint, resources, all that sort. These people having litters of kids with no regard for what the human population is doing to this Earth.. don't get me started. this little video sums it up pretty well. Albeit slightly harsh, I do agree with the points: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgDhDa4HHo
You do know what furries are right? On Furaffinity? Humans who like anthropomorphic animals? It says remember to spay or neuter your furries, not your cats, dogs, etc. >.>
And honestly people should get cats and dogs neutered/spayed as well, there's far too many pets and far too little people to care for them.
And honestly people should get cats and dogs neutered/spayed as well, there's far too many pets and far too little people to care for them.
No shit, and I'm not saying humans shouldn't fuck less, but there are over 4 million cats and dogs being euthanized in shelters day by day because these morons won't get their dog fixed because they think two dogs having sex is funny, and then the puppies come along, they think they're adorable until they start teething and chewing and then they throw them in shelters.
Thank you! I fully expected to have to fight about it, being of such a "tender young childbearing age", and had a mental list of responses prepared... and most of the OB/GYN offices in town turned me down.. but my Dr's office managed to hear back from only one, and I had no trouble with the Dr. I spoke with there :D I was really lucky! .. but don't get me started on how STUPID it is that anyone should have any say over one's personal reproductive choices and prevent those freedoms >:[ if I regret it, that's MY problem, NOT theirs... omg I'm going to just stop now before I go on a tangent xD
I'm glad you found someone, at least! It's still insane that you got turned down at all, though. Believe me, I'm on your side with this one. It's your body and your choice, and it shouldn't be subject to the tender, offended sensibilities of old men with nothing to do with it. :P You're right though. I had better stop too. >_>;
Congrats again!
Congrats again!
Haha this is adorable! :D
Good luck with getting your tubes tied! Are you just having them clamped or cut and cauterized? I've heard the latter being more effective just because sperm can wiggle through the clamps, therefore causing a tubal pregnancy. ;-;
Either way, I wish you the best of luck!

I wish I had the power to get rid of whatever makes them able to deny it like that I would. I want more than my tubes tied, and I really do not want to wait until I'm 35 to get it done because I've known since I was 12 or 13 (when ever that wretched time started) that I did not want kids. That was somewhere around 14 years ago now. I think that if I haven't changed my mind in that time I will not change it and go on a suing spree damn it!
Same! Even as a kid, I didn't get along with other kids :s unfortunately, the only options for sterilization are either varying forms of IUDs, or varying forms of tubal litigations. Before I started doing more research on it, I thought I wanted the whole works removed, uterus, everything.. but apparently removing the whole shebang brings on an early menopause, and would then have to take hormone pills for the rest of your life. And it's even harder to convince a Dr. to remove that much unless it's really medically necessary. Cauterizing the tubes seems to be a pretty failsafe way to go :3
Well just everything related to the reproductive system.. a hysterectomy, officially speaking. But, ultimately, not a great idea when perfectly fine alternatives exist. Not having a period ever again would be fantastic, but I'll keep them if only to avoid an early menopause x3
Doesn't hysterectomy just getting rid of the uterus? Getting rid of that has less of a chance since it's the ovaries that produce the hormones more so than it, they claim that you have a higher chance of getting ovarian cancer but really, anything no adays can give it to you, and you're really not at that much higher risk than keeping it.
Basically the uterus along with the ovaries produces hormones, when one doesn't work properly the other starts to go. So yes tubes tied is the best option. It's something I want to look into for myself, but harder to do here in Canada because you need a medical reason (though I have plenty of medical reasons). And my hubby is too scared to get his done...men can be so silly about their junk.
Thanks :3 and yeah.. I think it's fine if someone doesn't support abortion, but damn don't go cramming it down everyone's throats!! I pass a local Planned Parenthood almost every day, and let me tell you if I don't get just soo steamed at the pretentious old men standing out there telling everyone women regret abortions... like they have ANY idea what a woman would go through to have to make that decision >:[ Besides that, are THEY gonna be there to support this possible child if/when its born, make sure it comes into a life where its loved and not resented? Unlikely, so they should just keep their noses out of it >_< .... sorry for the rant xD Door was open for it, I walked in, my bad :x *hushes*
Some people have very strong moral stances, and believe that it should extend to the rest of society. Personally I go for "Consent and Rights", where you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as it doesn't violate someone's rights without their consent. So naturally, murder is bad because the victim isn't consenting. Abortion is a tricky issue, and I believe that you can flush that thing out of there until say, it starts to think on it's own. Before then it's just a clump of cells. Of course the best option would be to invent artificial wombs and space habitats and breed a generation of parent-less space explorers, who have no ties to Earth and no problems with leaving to explore and colonize the universe! MUA HAHAHA.
...yes, my plan is to launch the unwanted fetuses into space, but you have to admit it solves the problem. :P

Not your bad. I know what your sayin'. It's like what a friend said sometime a go when he wanted to question a crowd of pro lifers.
"How many of you have kids?"
"How many of you have adopted kids?"
"How many are planning to adopt kids?"
How many would support higher taxes to government or ward or the court raise the kids until they're old enough to be on their own?
It was amazing how many hands were lost as he went down the questions list. there were no hands by the second question.
All the methods out there to prevent pregnancy or an unwanted child and they're against it. Seems like they create the situation just so they have a reason to protest abortions or other problems that the woman in question didn't want in the first place. Not sure if that made sense but those are my thoughts and I support your decision.

Thinking for the LOONG term doesn't seem to be a requirement for these mental midgets if they think at all. Only the here and now but nothing afterwards like looking in on the mother and child on a regular bases and seeing if all is well and providing assistance if they need it. Just save this newborn and move on to the next unborn.
There have been many, many times where I've considered doing the same thing that you're doing now. I always told myself that my family has health problems of all kinds from both parents, in fact. No reason to have a child that may end up having problems (I was born with hypothyroidism myself) from the beginning. I also figure that if I changed my mind down the road, there are children out there that have no homes. Why keep bring more mouths to feed in this world when you can adopt? Pffft...... but I don't like kids, I never really have. I don't have the patience for them. My boyfriend is the same way and he's deathly afraid of us messing around and accidentally get me pregnant :C So I figure the best solution is to have one of us get fixed!
How much is the surgery, do you know? I'm just curious >>....

I don't know how much it will be, I just understand that my insurance should be covering at least most of it.. I'll figure out the bill later, I can pay it off in time if I have to. I'll prolly get something with the expense mailed to me after, I can get back to you with the numbers when I know :3
xD that would be awesome! I currently dont have any insurance at all so I know I'm gonna have to wait >> but still I do agree with you that the expenses to do it would be well worth it in the long run.
I have enough nieces and nephews running around, think my parents ought to be happy enough with what they have!
I have enough nieces and nephews running around, think my parents ought to be happy enough with what they have!
Hehe yah, another great thing about all this is that my family totally supports me! My grandparents raised me, and I know they don't want to even imagine the support I would have to rely on them for a kid. And my sister (biologically my aunt to give you an idea) knows how much I dislike kids and that deep under this calm friendly exterior, is a very cranky individual who would probably eat a fussy baby before thinking to comfort it. My family has seen enough kids turn into total failures, the general consensus is that this is a fantastic thing for me to do x3
Well I totally support you on that too! xD
I have problems with kids from the very beginning, like I absolutely hate holding babies. They're too small or fragile for my liking, and they are just constant noise. My boyfriend calls kids tumors that you can't get rid of xD
I've been an aunt since I was 5 years old, so I've gotten to know how this family is. My oldest sister's kids are troublemakers, my brother's kids are hunters/rednecks, and my second oldest sister's little girl is cute, but she can be quite the hellion if you have her around other kids. Despite the fact I was probably the least amount of trouble for my parents (who are in their late 50s now) I know how I was still a handful. I don't think I can handle the kind of rebellion xD My parents have a hard time supporting my sisters as it is (my brother wants nothing to do with us) they just don't need the stress, imo.
But yeah totally, I have no patience for whiny bratty kids. I'm a bit grumpy with my nieces and nephews as it is xD Plus, I hate spending money. I will when I have to, but I hate it. Can tell I'm a dragon right? hoarding my monies. Having a child means sharing most if not all my monies, and I can't have that xD I'm perfectly willing to spend money with my boyfriend because he does so with me...but with a kid? That kid won't be able to get a job until they are at least 15/16 D: NO LIKEY! xD

Your choice, and I hope nothing goes wrong with the procedure.
Personally I want at least one kid one day so I can teach them and take them on backpacking trips and stuff, and simply because I believe in keeping my bloodline going. The human population will solve itself when the resources run out and a massive collapse and war comes along, so I don't really care if people have lots of kids. The Earth doesn't play nice, and when a balance gets too out of whack, the results can be....interesting.

That's the thing tho.. assuming I didn't hate the little beast for existing, I wouldn't want any of my kids to grow up in this declining world we're in. And I certainly don't need to contribute to the problem when there are already children who are waiting to be adopted.

Curio. Kudos for your choice as it is your choice. But coming from a person who is starting to get the fathering instinct. 'Hopefully it wont take effect fully until the economy some what levels out.' I just don't see the point in which being smart, careful and educated cannot prevent anything you do not wish to happen. Either way, I'll be there for you.
Because there's always that chance that something got through, no matter how safe and careful you are. And I don't want to worry constantly if something has happened or not, especially when I don't even like kids, and I know enough about myself that I wouldn't be a safe person around my own offspring. It's different when they're your own? Well, maybe, in that I wouldn't leave a locked car in neutral going down a hill into a lake with any one else's kids. They forgot to install a maternal instinct when I was made ;3
The only children I want will have four legs and fur. Or scales. Not feathers tho, birds a noisy beasts. Another reason I don't want kids either ;3 I should just make a list of all the reasoning behind it... the list would be huge xD
Kids aren't for everyone. Some people are born to be musicians, or artists, or politicians. They are just swayed into certain tendencies from childhood. Some kids play with baby dolls and can't wait to be mothers. Some kids chew on their dolls, and would rather play with their cars and dinosaurs, and have a hard time liking other kids.
It's just the way it is. I know you'd make an excellent parent tho, I have no doubts you'd raise a decent kid.
Thanks for your support Soki :3 you're a good friend.

I will say this though. You know WHY they don't like to tie a women's tubes right?
Its because its far far easier, cheaper and SAFER to tie the guys tubes! I could go in today and get mine tied on Monday be riding on Tuesday. No questions asked. Why don't you ask your boy to get HIS tubes tied. Besides, you're not sleeping around like most people. So if he gets his tied, you have NO problem. I would also wait for this choice UNTIL you get hitched to some one. You can't get pregnant if you don't get plugged. Forget what the rest of the retards on here think Curio. You know I'm right. ;)

Cute! Love the expression. She's like, "Whoa, what'd they do to me?"
I agree with your decision, since it's intelligently made and you're doing so willingly. People with your sort of smarts should totally be passing on those genes to the next generation. It's a terrible irony, really. But again, understandable. I just wish the idiots would stop polluting the gene pool with their dumbness genes, and then we'd all be much better off.
Me? I'll use caution and take my chances with contraceptives. If a pregnancy results from that, I say the child deserves to be born just for beating the odds.

Yeah, it's like, all the stupid people are breeding too much and raising stupid kids, making me hate kids even more.. and most of the smart people won't be spreading it to youth xD Not to say everyone who wants to be a parent is stupid, just too many have "accidents" and suck the support system out of the state. it's alright tho, there's a growing child-free movement where more people are realizing and accepting that you don't HAVE to have kids. Probably not enough to balance out how much stupid is getting spread around tho >_<

Personally I think people have way to many babies these days lol
... could be why some countries constantly try to go to war with others xD
Imo, have a maximum of 2 children, that'd "replace you", and since people die in accidents, that'd slowly manage to reduce the population somewhat.
But nooo, they go on and have like, 4-8 children, and those have 4-8 children, and thos-... well, you can see the problem here x3
It would be "cruel" but effective if they spayed/neutered certain people, like rapists in U countries and whatnot.

Ye-e-eah... with me being a test chart of all the genetic defects in the bloodline I'm thinking I should probably not add my genes to the overpopulation. Besides, I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to treat a developing child like a great opportunity for sociobiological experimentation. The whole nature/nurture thing... thousands of experiments to do... the mind boggles.
Four of my female friends have had babies the last two years, so I get enough ideas for experimentation already.
I read that it's not until the age of ten that children even begin to develop the ability to understand other people's feelings, and it's not fully functional until the age of 20 if all goes well. That would explain a whole lot of things if it were true...
Of course, procreation is a non-issue to me since my personality is such an effective contraceptive in and by itself. Yaay!

In my own childhood, I had SOME ability to understand other people's feelings at a very young age... but my brain had short circuits. Like "I shouldn't do that... it'll hurt so-and-so's feelings" *does hurtful thing anyway* "...that was a bad idea, why did I do it?"

Wow... You're totally the kind of girl I love. You don't like kids and you're ready to go through this even to be absolutely sure nothing will happen on that side too. And from all the answer I could read, I love the way you think too.
Hope your boyfriend knows he's a lucky guy.
Congrat also on getting the support of your family on that. I know sometimes they could be pain in the tail for that kind of things. Oh and of course, good luck with the surgery. I'm 100% sure everything will be fine though. After all, we are in 2010 ! }:D
PS: Really cute drawing too ! }:)

Yeee! Congrats! Like most of the above, greatly support your decision, and determination to get the OK from the docs. <3
It's good to know there are more fine gals in the world that're willing to make such a decision for themselves. Sadly, the somewhat universal rules of the process to get such a procedure is both to keep women from getting it done to 'get back at their parents', or for women to be pressured into doing it by an abusive partner that just wants to screw their brains out without any kids.
... Although that is one mighty fine benefit, of course, all the fun without the crotchspawn getting everywhere. Purr.
Again, grats girl. Your partner is a very, very lucky wolf. <3

Thanks hehe ^_^ Indeed, this decision isn't from any pressure or for any negative reasons. I've known for years I'd like to be permanently sterilized, and now just seems like a great time to finally do it. There certainly is the benefit of having all the fun as we see fit, without the risk of unwanted crotch goblins resulting from it x3 It's nice to live in a day and age where we can make these choices for ourselves :D
I've been researching the procedures for male sterilization, and as brief of a procedure as it is, there seems to be a high number of minor complications that can make it somewhat difficult to live with in the future. Like randomly waking up a morning feeling like you've been kicked in the balls a couple times, for up to a week at a time. :<
But I'll still eventually be aiming for that myself in the future. I have two brothers that *are* good with kids, one of which already has one with a partner, so that will hopefully increase the chances of my family not lynching me for such a decision.
In the end, though, whatever the price of the procedure, you could likely either compare it to the price of unwillingly raising a child, or the price of the many other kinds of prophylactics. Which sounds like such a cheerful scientific term, whenever I say it. Teehee.
Even if you get them cheap, the price of a fair lifetime using condoms can be quite steep compared to the procedures that can be performed these days. That is, of course, if you're lucky enough to not be allergic to the latex, or the anti-seminal lubricant used on most of them. I've met a few people with that problem. XD

If I wanted to pay out the nose (the quoted cost of the procedure being similar to that of buying a house) to reverse it, it could be done. But I know I won't want to anyway. IF my maternal instinct catches up with me, unlikely, but for the sake of argument.. there are more than enough kids already waiting for adoption, I don't need to be selfish about my gene pool. :3
