In the distance, the quarry that the red signals had been warning about makes it appearance.
There was a track crew farther down the siding so they were blowing their horn pretty freely, which was a treat.

Another train occupying the blocks you can't see only happens on single track.
The problem is that single track better be a busy one.
Most single tracks around here where I live host 6-10 trains or 12 trains a day with the exception of the Navasota which sees about twenty a day.
Here is the other thing..
It needs to be bi direction which only two lines here are in the Navasota sub and the Conroe sub.
Everybody else is predominantly one way with the exception of a local or two that don't go all the way through.
