I'm admittedly surprised that humans having tapetum lucidum isn't a mutation that can happen -- even with the loss of visual clarity, having improved night vision seems like a fair trade. (I would be surprised if the glasses are entirely for show, though, given that aforementioned blurriness.)
On one hand, I find myself thinking that the responsible thing once you find out this is a real offer, is to say I will let you know for next moon, and actually give some serious thought to what has up until now been just idle speculation.
