oh man. i just have to say- the fact that you can see the light through their ears makes me SO happy. that's a small detail that i really just.. honestly can't say i've seen anyone do before, now that i think about it. i mean i'm sure others have done it, but it's just one of those things that i don't think most people (myself included) really consider when they're coloring something. this is awesome :D
Waitwaitwait...
Convair? As in the Convair 240 series?
Good lord, I thought that history had forgotten these things entirely. My father started his commercial piloting career in the right and then left seats of these puppies, before moving up to the DH-8. Aheh, kind of funny that one moves UP to a DH-8 from anything, but for me, the Convair will always symbolize ugly, utilitarian, and humble beginnings.
Come on guys, there's more to this pic than just pretty sky. ;D

Well... They could be made gorgeous sometimes, with the right paint jobs. I dunno that they were naturally so. I would argue that they haven't exactly aged well, aesthetics-wise, but then, that's hardly surprising, considering that it's a baby-boomer plane, born in the post-war years while engineers still liked piston nacelles and B-17-esque tails. Yeah, as a super-young kid, I was along with him for some rides. They were CV 580s and 640s. Just wasn't sure which one you were going for here, since there's been a LOT of cockpit mod between 1954 and now. :D I believe you can safely call them all "The CV-240 series" or "The CV-240 family", to refer to all of these... 240, 340, 440, 540, 580, 640, etc.
However! I'll concede that there are two times when a Convair is unequivocably beautiful.
1) When it's dumping a load of water during its role as a firefighter
2) When it's parked next to a Shorts-360 ;)
