Another piece I managed to belt out in just 1 day, start to finish. Always need more dragon art ^^ OMG you guys you don't know just how tickled I am with this!!! XD *squeals* I am so so so happy how this turned out on so many levels!
Got stuck on repeat listening to Tears and Laughter by Tall Man 6ft Tree and In the Waiting Line by Zero 7 while I worked on this.
Haven't decided what to do with this one yet, but character is mine ^^

Oh yeah, this is nice. I think you did an excellent job with all the water effects. Maybe next time include some "splash waves" in the water, as a lot would get thrown up during emergence more solid than the spray. But that's my only critique of the piece. I love the composition and the lighting. The framing of the moon with the wings and border looks beautiful. You should be happy with this. That fact that you did this in a day is impressive.
I would have if I was comfortable that I could pull it off yet and still make it look good, but for now any of my background details have just been painterly-like. That and I was almost afraid to ruin it with too many lines... But trust me, I pulled up plenty of reference photos on animals jumping out of the water. ^^ But thank you for your thoughts. I'm glad to hear you at least enjoy it overall ;D
And you put that reference to good use. I'm just a detail oriented realist who can't draw to save his life. I'm an author, not an artist. Heck, maybe the dragon is so hydrodynamic (and yes, that is a word) that it can glide out of the water with naught but a fine mist as the water falls from her body. Man, that would be gorgeous to see in real life.
Lol maybe it is ;D Hehe we'll just go with that for now then ^^ I was debating if this should be one of 2 characters I had... one was a human turned sea dragon forced to eat the flesh of her dead husband who ruled the seas... She flawlessly survived the change, but the exhilaration she felt, lead up to this scene... Her immediate and thoughtless return to the deep caused a tsunami that destroyed several continents ^^;
Wouldn't it though? *sighs*
