One evening, I and my good friend John Hall were having fun at the county fair. We boarded rides like the bumper carts, the merry go round, the dragon and the house of mirrors, but we didn’t have enough guts to enter extreme rides like the haunted house, the rollercoaster, and even the Ferris wheel!
Afterward, we decide to go grab some snacks. We ate funnel cakes, churros, cotton candy, candied apples, corn and a couple of hot dogs. Then, I said:
“Hey, why don’t we go to the calm attractions? You know, where we play games and win prizes.”
“Yeah, why not?” John said.
First, we decided to go to the ring toss attraction. There, I saw an interesting prize.
“Hey, look! An Applejack plushie! I need it for my MLP plushie collection.”
“And what’s that?” John said. “Is that… a Nessie plushie?!”
“Yes it is! This could be your only chance to get one!”
We participated in the game in order to win the prizes we wanted. However, this game was harder than it looked! We didn’t manage to land a single ring around the sticks!
After failing in winning the game, we went to try another game, then we saw the Star Adventurer attraction. It consisted in taking control of little toy cannons and shoot at spaceship targets. There, we saw more interesting prizes!
“Wait, is that an Alicorn Twilight plushie? I need it, too!” I said.
“Look, there’s a Reluctant Dragon plushie!” John said.
We both played the game and tried to win the plushies. However, those spaceships and flying saucers moved too fast! So, we lost that game, too.
Next, we tried games like ping pong ball, water gun, ring the bell, skeeball, and the result was the same.
We had almost lost hope, until we saw one last game, Whac-A-Mole. When I saw the prizes, I gasped loudly.
“I can’t believe it! It’s Bronty, from Doc McStuffins! I’ve always wanted a plushie of him.”
“And there’s a plushie of Nessie, from Quack Pack!” John said.
We participated in the game and started hitting the moles with mallets so we could score points and win the prizes. And we did score points… but only a few. We couldn’t earn any prizes. We were so angry! Frustrated, we went to a remote place away from the fair
“It’s unfair. Why are these games so rigged?” John said.
“I know! That’s why we didn’t win a single prize. They should be a little more merciful with their contestants! I can’t take it!
Furious, I kicked a strange thing that was lying on the floor.
“Wait, what was that?” John asked.
Then I turned to look at what I had kicked. It looked like a pine cone.
“Is that…?”
The pine cone opened and out came the Fury!
“Fury!” we both said at the same time.
“What are you doing here? John asked.
“And how did you get here? I asked.
“I came from the TV of one of the attractions.” The Fury said. “Besides, I wanted to see my friends again.”
“We’re glad to see you here, Fury.” John said.
“So, what got you so riled up?” The Fury asked us.
“There’s a lot of awesome prizes to be won here at the fair!” I said. “However, these games are just too hard for us, and we can’t win anything nice!”
“It’s like we’re dropping our money!” John said.
The Fury began to grow a little.
“Say, what else is angering you?”
We immediately knew why the Fury asked this question, so we tried thinking of something else to get madder.
“Um… it annoys us to think what would happen if everyone knows we aren’t still brave enough to enter rollercoasters, Ferris wheels and haunted houses! They will mock us for a year!” John said.
“Not everyone can be completely brave! They must respect us!” I said.
When we finished getting angry, the Fury was already giant sized.
“Wow, that was quick.” I said.
“Great!” The Fury said. “Now that I’m giant, I’m gonna help you win those prices at the games!”
“You will?” John said. “Oh, thank you!”
“But, how?” I asked.
“With my big, smelly, huggable feet!”
“But everyone at the fair will see you! You need some kind of disguise...”
Suddenly, John had an idea.
“I got it!” he said. “Fury, wait here. Chalex, come with me. We’ll be right back.”
We went back to the fair and grabbed an abandoned circus tent. After we built it, it was tall enough for the Fury to hide inside! Then we decided to return to the games and see if the Fury’s plan worked. First, we went to ring toss. From behind the attraction, and without being noticed, the Fury buried his giant foot in the earth, and sprouted his toes out, camouflaging between the sticks. We began to throw rings, and the Fury caught them with his toes.
“Wait, did those sticks move?” the attraction’s attendant asked.
“Uh… yes!” I said. “Maybe you accidentally pressed a button for them to move. But don’t worry, it’ll make it more fun, won’t it?”
“Well, if you say so.”
We scored perfectly, so we both won the prizes we wanted.
“Yes! I got my AJ plushie! Though normally, she’s my least favorite out of the Mane 6.”
“And I got my Nessie plushie! It’s like a dream come true!” John said.
“Come on, let’s move on to the next game!”
The Fury followed us, hiding in the circus tent. Next game was Star Adventurer. The Fury found some spare targets on the back part of the attraction and stuck them to his toes. This way, he could sneak his toes between the moving targets as if they were spaceships, too. Depending on where we fired at, the Fury wiggled his toes, allowing us to hit the targets that were stuck to them. Thus, we won! The attendant of that place gave us the prizes we wanted.
“An Alicorn Twilight plushie! My MLP plushie collection is finally complete!” I said.
“A Reluctant Dragon plushie!” John said. “Once I get the Nelly plush, I will play with both of them as if they were dating!”
“Then let’s go to the last game!” I said.
I, John and the Fury prepared to go to where the Whac-A-Mole machines were. But first, we took a big, empty carboard box and cut nine holes on top of it. Then, the Fury put his foot in it. Luckily, he had shrunk a bit at that moment. We proceeded to paint mole faces on his giant toes.
“Hahaha!” The Fury laughed. “That tickles!”
“Fury! Shhh! They will hear you!” John said to him.
We arrived to the Whac-A-Mole game, disguising the Fury as a new machine.
“Wait.” The attendant said. “I haven’t seen that machine before. Is it new?”
“Um… yes!”
“Well, the more, the merrier.”
We began to hit the Fury’s disguised toes with our mallets, but as softly as possible, not to harm the Fury. In the end, we didn’t miss a single mole!
“Wow, a perfect score! Congratulations!” The attendant said. “You’ve been practicing, eh? Now, pick your prizes.”
“I want that Bronty plushie, please.” I said.
“And I’d like that Nelly plushie, please.” John said.
With all the prizes won, we felt victorious! We prepared to leave the fair, but the Fury called us.
“Hey, you’re missing a new game!”
“Really? What is it?” I asked.
“Ring the bell! The Fury’s version! This is how it works, lift my big toe, then drop it, and see if you can win the jackpot!”
And that’s what I and John did. We both lifted the Fury’s giant toe, then dropped it, and it rang the bell!
“Congratulations!” The Fury said. “You’ve won the jackpot! A free ticket to the Fury’s Foot Kissing Booth!”
We both cheered, and proceeded to kiss and hug the Fury’s giant foot.
“Oh, what a great day!” John said.
“We’re so happy!” I said.
Then the Fury shrunk down to his normal size, and prepared to return to Dragon Land.
“Bye, Fury!” John said. “We’ll miss you!”
“Hey, maybe you should introduce us to other Furies next time!” I said.
“Yeah! How about your family?”
“My family?” The Fury said. “Wow. Why didn’t I think of that before? Sure! I’ll let you meet my family and other Furies next time! Goodbye!”
Thus, the Fury returned home, and so did we, pleased with the prizes we won, and it was all thanks to our good friend, The Fury.
