Ah, that's an excellent way to put it! I used to be fascinated by the old 1930's cars with their somewhat aerodynamic curves and their shrouded/braided exhausts.
The best thing about musical instruments (to me) is the level of craftsmanship and care that goes into making them. It seems incredibly difficult to make some curves and transition pieces both symmetrical and smooth. x)

I have a friend who is excellent at working with wood. He recently constructed a custom stand for my Lute-kulele. For Christmas, I got him a book on building a strumstick and he is now in the process of constructing his first stringed instrument.
